About

The December list of displaced employees currently registered with the Workforce Management Centre is attached.

Premier's Department Circular 99-48, Arrangements Re The Suspension of Advertising and Filling Vacancies Following Introduction of The 1999-2000 Budget should be considered prior to the submission of vacancy advertisements to the Workforce Management Centre. Prior to submitting advertisements to the Workforce Management Centre for matching or seeking exemption, agencies are expected to consider all existing displaced employees to fill vacant positions.

Chief Executive Officers are reminded of the requirement as contained in Managing Displaced Employees Policy which states:

  • Displaced employees may be placed in any suitable vacancy without advertising.
  • Displaced employees who are excess are considered before other applicants for advertised vacancies against the criteria of whether the employee:
  • Meets the essential requirements for the position/job; and/or
  • Can perform adequately or is likely to perform adequately in the position/job in a reasonable period of time, given access to appropriate training.
  • The onus is on the selecting organisation to show why the excess employee cannot meet the criteria.

Organisations must facilitate the redeployment process by ensuring that every effort is made to place displaced employees in suitable vacant positions. Additionally, displaced employees should be released immediately upon any redeployment opportunities arising, including temporary placements. Your co-operation in this area is appreciated.
