About
A very positive feature of the contemporary NSW community is that it is made up of a rich mixture of ethnic and cultural groups.
An inevitable bi product of that fact is that State officials when staging State events need to handle cultural and religious issues in a sensitive fashion. When those issues are not appropriately addressed, offence or embarrassment can result.
The Community Relations Commission and the Premier's Department have therefore developed a brief set of guidelines to assist agencies in addressing cultural issues when staging state events. A copy of the guidelines is enclosed. They are also on the Premier's Department and Community Relations Commission homepages.
Feedback on the usefulness of these guidelines, or comments which could improve their coverage, might be sent to either the Chairperson, Community Relations Commission or Director-General of Premier's Department.
