Detailed Outline
Remembrance Day will be observed this year on Sunday, 11th November, 2001, and arrangements are being made for a Commemoration Ceremony at the Cenotaph, Martin Place, commencing at 10.20 a.m. The Premier has approved of ex-service men and women in the Government Services, who may be working that day, being allowed sufficient time off to attend the Ceremony wherever practicable, subject to agencies' convenience. It is recognised that as Remembrance Day is a Sunday this year, agency managements may have additional difficulty in releasing rostered staff to attend the ceremony. Consideration might be given to assisting ex-service staff to be rostered off for that day if so desired.
To mark this occasion, it is requested that one minute's silence be observed from 11.00 a.m. to 11.01 a.m. on Sunday, 11th November, 2001. It is hoped that, as far as possible, this period of silence will also be observed in all the premises of Departments and Agencies that may be operating on Sunday.
Please bring this matter to the attention of your Department and any sub Agencies or Authorities coming within, or associated with, your administration.
