The fourth annual data collection for the NSW Public Sector Workforce Profile is about to commence. As in previous years, the Workforce Profile will collect anonymous data on all agency staff employed during the 2000-2001 financial year. As in 2001, the Workforce Profile will collect EEO data as well, reducing the reporting workload for agencies.

The 2002 Workforce Profile is substantially the same as in previous years, with the addition of 3 new items designed to collect information to calculate FTE uniformly across the sector. The 2002 Workforce Profile will also collect WFP Position Coding for those agencies that have completed this exercise with Review and Reform Division (RRD) assistance by the end of June 2002. Other agencies will be providing WFP Position Coding information by the 2003 collection. The new Workforce Profile items for 2002 have been developed in consultation with a number of agencies and stakeholders and we are confident that their collection will be a straightforward exercise.

RRD administers the collection and will shortly conduct information sessions with Agency contact nominees, who have received separate advice on these. RRD will provide ongoing support for agency contact officers during the collection period through an enquiry line (02 9228 5465), via Email at [email protected] and by regular newsletters, the first of which issued in April. Other assistance includes a detailed Workforce Profile 2002 Workbook and a data template to identify potential errors or missing data.

The quality and timeliness of the data returns has improved steadily each year. Your support is requested to maintain and build on this success to ensure that returns are provided by the target date for this year, which is 2 August 2002.
