Detailed Outline
In 2003, the Australia and New Zealand Land Information Council [ANZLIC] commissioned a study into spatial data capabilities in Western Australia, Victoria, New South Wales and the Commonwealth with a view to enhancing Australia's counter terrorism capability.
Numerous agencies and organisations possess data information resources that could be critically important in all phases of fully effective counter terrorism and emergency management response programs. The resources are widely distributed and their availability to other than the holding organisation is not generally known.
The National Counter Terrorism Committee has established a special working group to examine the recommendations of the ANZLIC Report and to determine how spatial data information might best be used in both a strategic and operational manner.
The working group has determined that its first priority is to carry out a stocktake of existing spatial data infrastructure and systems including mapping. This is to be facilitated through the Premier's/First Ministers Departments in each jurisdiction and the Commonwealth Attorney General's Department.
It would be appreciated if you could arrange for the completion of the attached pro-forma in respect of the spatial data information held by your organisation and return the completed form to Mr W Parsons, Director, Counter Terrorism and Disaster Recovery, Level 12, Bligh House, 4-6 Bligh Street, Sydney 2000 by no later than 10th February, 2004.
Mr Parsons' email address is [email protected] - Nil returns are required.
