Key planning, budgeting and reporting requirements for agencies are now located in one easy-to-access place, with the release of the latest version of the Strategic Management Framework and Strategic Management Calendar.
Bringing these important requirements together in one place, and including important information, guidelines, linkages and tools, will assist public sector agencies continue to provide efficient and effective levels of service to the people of NSW.
The Strategic Management Framework (SMF) website was first established in October 2002, and aimed to provide an introduction to these key requirements for agencies. The next iteration of the website, revised and updated with feedback from users and consultations with senior managers across the public sector, is now available.
The new SMF includes the broad strategic imperatives and legislation that affect all agencies within the public sector, as well as requirements which need to be considered when agencies undertake their strategic, corporate and implementation planning.
The new SMF also provides a guide to performance measurement and reporting. The Government has signalled that it has greater expectations of agency performance, and the Framework includes resources to assist agencies do this better.
The Strategic Management Calendar (SMC) is now incorporated within the Framework. The Calendar provides a succinct guide to key planning, budgeting and reporting requirements over the financial year cycle, as well as detailed information for each month.
The SMF and the 2003/04 SMC can be found on the Premier's Department Website under "Work & Business" then "Working for Government").
To ensure the Framework and Calendar are accurate and up to date, agencies will be required to inform Premier's Department of changes or additional links to relevant websites. Changes or updates should be sent to: [email protected]. In addition, agencies are encouraged to provide feedback to this email address on the usability and other features of the website. These will be taken into account in developing the next version of the website.
