Detailed Outline
The NSW Government is committed to the employment of Aboriginal people across the NSW Public Sector. There are a number of Public Sector programs in place that strive to improve employment outcomes for Aboriginal people. The attached document Aboriginal Employment: Improving Your Agency's Performance provides information on the successful and innovative practices available to agencies to improve their outcomes.
Chief Executives and managers are urged to take a more focussed approach towards the employment of Aboriginal people. The attached document Improving Your Agency's Performance will assist agencies in attaining the three Key Result Areas of the Aboriginal Employment in Practice: for the NSW Public Sector policy document:
- Better and accessible services: Deliver quality mainstream and Aboriginal-specific services through improved use of Aboriginal people's diverse skills, knowledge and experience.
- Careers: Provide employment opportunities and career paths to improve long-term employment outcomes of Aboriginal people.
- Partnerships: Establish partnerships to maximise employment of Aboriginal people in NSW.
Further information about Aboriginal employment programs is available on the website www.eeo.nsw.gov.au or by contacting the Employment Equity and Diversity division on phone 9228 4444.
