Detailed Outline
The Government has endorsed the recommendations of the Review of Recruitment Practices conducted by the Council on the Cost and Quality of Government. The review involves major changes to both policy and practice including the introduction of a new e-recruitment system for the whole public sector (excluding State Owned Corporations). The Premier's Department and Department of Commerce are preparing a detailed business case and implementation plan for Cabinet due in April 2007.
The wide-ranging reforms aim to make recruitment in the NSW public sector simpler, faster and more effective and have the potential to create significant savings for agencies. Successful implementation of the reforms and realisation of savings will depend on agency participation and support. Agencies will have the opportunity for significant input in the implementation process.
To ensure co-ordination and avoid duplication of effort and expenditure, all Chief Executive Officers of public sector agencies (excluding State Owned Corporations) are required to seek prior approval from the Premier's Department (PEO in consultation with the Department of Commerce) on any major initiatives relating to intended procurement or contracting out of e-recruitment systems or related projects such as developing capability frameworks.
To discuss these initiatives please contact Chris Raper, Assistant Director-General, Premier's Department, phone: 02 9228 3530 or [email protected].
