About
Clause 52 of the Crown Employees (Public Service Conditions of Employment) Reviewed Award 2006 (the Award) and section 7-3 Community Language Allowance Scheme (CLAS) of the Personnel Handbook (the Handbook) have been varied.
Clause 52 of the Crown Employees (Public Service Conditions of Employment) Reviewed Award 2006 (the Award) and section 7-3 Community Language Allowance Scheme (CLAS) of the Personnel Handbook (the Handbook) have been varied.
The changes recognise a National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI) language recognition award as being eligible for payment under the CLAS. Previously, to be recognised a CLAS recipient needed accreditation either: as an interpreter from NAATI, or by having passed a language examination administered by the Community Relations Commission.
Recognition is an award in a separate category to NAATI accreditation. It is granted only in languages for which NAATI does not test and it has no specification of the level of proficiency.
Both the Award and the Handbook on the Department of Premier and Cabinet website have been updated.
