Detailed Outline
The purpose of this circular is to remind public authorities of their reporting obligations under the Public Interest Disclosures Act 1994.
Public authorities must prepare six monthly and annual reports under the Act. A summary of these reporting obligations is provided in Premier’s Memorandum M2011-22 Public Interest Disclosures – New Reporting Requirements.
The next six monthly report must be provided to the Ombudsman by 30 July 2013.
The NSW Ombudsman has developed an online reporting tool to assist public authorities to provide their six monthly reports. Further information, including a manual for using the online reporting tool and a suggested template for annual reports, is available on the Ombudsman’s website.
Heads of Government agencies should ensure that this circular is brought to the attention of officers who are responsible for preparing the six monthly and annual reports and ensure that their agency complies with the reporting obligations.
