On Saturday, 28th April, I made a further visit to the Nyngan area during which I was approached by the President of Bogan Shire and community leaders of Nyngan with a request that I nominate a person who can take charge of the co-ordination of State and Local Government agencies to re-establishing settlement in Nyngan.
Rear Admiral Peter Sinclair (retired) has agreed to undertake that role on my behalf. Peter Sinclair will travel to Nyngan tomorrow Tuesday, lst May. He will be accompanied by Mr Bill Parsons, a senior officer of the Premier's Department, who will assist him. They will initially be located at the SES Regional Headquarters, Dubbo and may be contacted on (068) 82 2222.
Peter Sinclair will maintain contact direct with me and will have my authority to co-ordinate the activities of the State Government departments and agencies involved in restoring services to Nyngan and assisting the population of Nyngan to resettle in their centre.
I would be obliged if you would Inform your administrations that they should have regard to any decisions or directions made by Peter Sinclair and that they should keep him fully informed of progress on their activities.
