About
The Royal Australian Institute of Public Administration (NSW Branch) is planning a Public Sector Awareness week as an activity to focus attention onthe work of the Public Service and its contribution to all aspects of Australian life.
The project, which has the support of the Premier, has been scheduled for 15-21 April, 1991.
Key objectives of the week will be to raise the image of the public service in the community and improve its self image. This can be achieved through highlighting the quality work being done in the public sector.
A range of central activities is being planned, including extensive media coverage.
Departments and Authorities are invited and encouraged to participate in the week through specific activities most suitable to highlighting their own work and contributions. The cost, if any, of staging these activities will have to be met from within existing budgets. Activities might include: open days for the public, static displays; videos of your organisation's activities, providing speakers to business and community organisations, participate in sporting team competitions and activities in association with service clubs and schools.
I have designated Mr George Daubeny, Projects Secretariat, Office of State Administration, telephone 228 4441 in the Premier's Department as Co-ordinator of New South Wales Government Agencies involvement and he is available to discuss the possible projects your administration could generate.
Details of developed proposals should be completed by 31st December 1990. In the meantime, it would be appreciated if you could nominate a contact officer(s) within your administration(s) and arrangements be made for the details to be provided to Mr Daubeny.
Yours sincerely
Director-General
