Description
Superseded by C98-103Detailed Outline
Introducing performance management systems is a key part of creating a performance based culture in the NSW public sector. A well designed and operating performance management system provides a mechanism for linking corporate and programme goals with the actual performance of individuals within the organisation. Effective performance management achieves increased individual and organisational outputs, increased managerial accountability for performance, and a more motivated and committed workforce. Performance Management Systems are being developed for the SES and many are already in place.
Organisations should develop and implement performance management systems covering non-SES staff by 31 December 1992. Organisations may choose to develop and implement performance management systems through their local JCC or some other form of consultation. Employee associations have been consulted in the course of developing the Guidelines, which have the approval of the NSW Labor Council and the Public Sector Joint Consultative Committee Executive.
Personnel Policy Division is available to provide assistance to organisations developing and implementing performance management systems. Should you have any queries, please contact Len Newman, Premier's Department, on 228 4740.
Yours sincerely
