Detailed Outline
To allow more targeted recruitment for base grade positions outside the Sydney metropolitan area (including regional and country locations) it has been decided that such positions may be advertised in local newspapers without also being placed in the composite classified advertisement section of the Sydney Morning Herald and the Telegraph Mirror.
Benefits of such a strategy may include:
-
attraction of applicants committed to the local area, resulting in a reduction in turnover; and
-
the ability to target recruitment in areas of high unemployment.
This will apply only to base grade positions outside the Sydney metropolitan area, with style and placement of advertisements being limited to a total cost equivalent to that of a composite classified advertisement in both the Sydney Morning Herald and the Telegraph Mirror.
To take advantage of special rates negotiated with newspapers, all such advertisements should be placed through the Government Advertising Agency, which will be able to provide advice and assistance where necessary.
Further, it has been decided to allow organisations to place larger composite classified advertisements (up to double the current size) for base-grade vacancies. This will apply only to base grade vacancies where there are multiple positions to be filled.
