Memorandum 92-18 of 6th July, 1992 which in part dealt with Private Office appointments required that Ministers seek the Premier's agreement before engaging for a private office position any person who was not employed in a Private Office on 24th June.

Mr Fahey has now asked me to let you know that this requirement is no longer in force. Ministers may therefore proceed to fill any vacancies which occur from now on in their private offices with appropriately qualified persons who can be engaged within the financial allocation which has already been notified.
