About
There have been a significant number of inquiries as to what agency or organisation might accept and distribute public donations of funds for drought relief.
The Government has not introduced any appeal for persons affected by the drought, but has made arrangements with the following organisations to accept public donations:-
- St. Vincent De Paul Society, West Street, Lewisham - 560 8666.
- The Smith Family, 16 Larkin Street, Camperdown - 008 024 069 (Donations) 5504422.
- Lifeline National Office, 3/88 Foveaux Street, Sydney - 2818588.
- Salvation Army, 140 Elizabeth Street, Sydney -2641711.
In the circumstances, any person wishing to make a donation should be given the option of approaching one of the organisations mentioned above. It is mentioned that Channel 9 is conducting a drought appeal with donations being received at any branch of the National Australia Bank.
