Background
Earlier this year, the Office of Public Management (OPM) completed a review of Options for Achieving Economies in Corporate Services in budget sector agencies at the request of the Expenditure Review Committee of Cabinet.
The review estimated that expenditure on corporate services salaries in budget sector agencies was in excess of $700 million p.a. The review found that there was considerable variation between agencies in the proportion of their salary budgets spent on corporate services and concluded that significant economies are possible in corporate services in budget sector agencies.
After consideration of the findings of this review, the Government decided:
