About
Each year, the Statutory and Other Offices Remuneration Tribunal undertakes inquiries for the purposes of the annual determinations into salaries and remuneration packages under sections 13 and 24C of the Statutory and Other Offices Remuneration Act 1975. The Tribunal's annual determinations are required to be made not earlier than 1 July and not later than 31 August in each year and take effect from 1 October in that year.
The Tribunal gives notification of its annual inquiries in the Public Service Notices and the Executive Bulletin and invites written submissions. As a result, the Tribunal receives submissions from both individuals and groups of office holders and on occasions, copies of the submissions are also referred by the authors to the responsible portfolio Minister or the employing agency seeking support for increased remuneration.
Where a Minister or agency is considering endorsing a submission and/or proposes to make separate representations to the Tribunal, the representations should be referred to the Public Employment Office, Premier's Department in the first instance and, where appropriate, with supporting information concerning funding arrangements. This is to ensure that a consistent approach to the Government's remuneration policy is maintained.
It would be appreciated if you could bring this Memorandum to the attention of all relevant departments and authorities within your administration.
