About
The Director General, Premier's Department has written to all Chief Executive Officers advising them of the outcomes, processes and timeframes for meeting the Government's commitment to a one-third reduction in the size of the Chief Executive Service/Senior Executive Service.
The primary obligation to deliver SES reductions and other budget savings will rest with Chief Executive Officers. The level of savings will vary depending on the particular nature and circumstances of each agency. Chief Executive Offices are to discuss with Ministers the aggregate savings to be achieved. Once aggregate savings targets have been established and advised to the Director General, Premier's Department, vacant SES positions may be filled without the approval of the Public Employment Office.
Inquiries on this process can be directed to Ms Anne Rein, Assistant Director General and General Manager, Office of the Council on the Cost of Government (228 5495). Mr Ken Cripps, Acting Commissioner, Public Employment Office (228 4732) can assist with any inquiries arising from this process relating to displaced officers.
