Detailed Outline
The Commonwealth Department of Employment Education and Training (DEET) is currently seeking projects to be undertaken under the New Work Opportunities Program (NWO).
DEET is interested in developing NWO projects under the auspice of State Government agencies. The potential scope of the projects is unlimited, however projects dealing with the environment, heritage issues, drought and bushfire alleviation, and the Olympics will be encouraged.
There are requirements placed on participating agencies, particularly in training provision, and it is essential that a co-ordinated approach be adopted in relation to project development. 1 have asked our colleague the Minister for Education and Training, the Hon John Aquilina, to accept responsibility for this co-ordination.
All contact with the Commonwealth regarding the New Work Opportunities Program should be through Mr Aquilina's office or the Department of Training and Education Co-ordination (DTEC).
At officer level it would be appropriate for agencies to consult Phillip Moore, Head of Service Delivery (DTEC) on (02)266-8476 or Michael Fleming Manager External Programs (DTEC) on (02)266-8776.
