Detailed Outline
Part V of the Olympic Co-ordination Authority Act requires the Authority to consult with relevant agencies on all developments proposed by the Authority prior to lodgement of development applications with the Minister for Urban Affairs and Planning.
The purpose of these provisions is to streamline the consultation and assessment process for Olympic Games and related projects to ensure their timely delivery.
Regulations to the Act will soon be drafted to make provision for the exercise of the Authority's functions including provision for defined periods within which . consultations are to be concluded. As the Authority proposes to lodge a number of major development applications in late 1995 it will be required to carry out relevant consultations prior to the making of the regulations.
The co-operation of all Ministers is sought in this interim period to ensure their agencies provide full assistance to the Authority in the exercise of its consultation functions. Accordingly, Ministers are requested to apply a fourteen day time frame for co-ordination of formal comments to the Authority.
