The Sydney Organising Committee for the Olympic Games (SOCOG) has launched the symbol to be used for the Year 2000 Olympic Games.
In order to emphasise the shift from the days when Sydney was bidding to host the Games, to the organisation and staging of the Year 2000 Games, SOCOG has asked that banners and flags carrying the flash logo be removed from Government buildings and offices.
Items bearing the new logo will be available in January 1997, but in the meantime you are asked to arrange for agencies in your portfolio to meet SOCOG's request.
Any agency wishing to replace the current display items with items carrying the new symbol might contact Ms Beverley Bowyer, Olympic Coordination Authority on telephone 9228 4350 in February 1997 when arrangements for obtaining such articles will have been finalised.
Please bring this memorandum to the notice of all organisations in your portfolio.
