About
Treasurer's Memorandum TM 89-8 allowed Ministers to delegate authority to Chiefs of Staff to incur expenditure up to $500. This figure is now not sufficient delegation for the types of expenditure that could be expected to arise in the day-to-day running of Ministerial Offices.
Ministers may now delegate to their Chiefs of Staff authority to incur expenditure up to $2000.
Where, due to the particular circumstances of a Minister's Office, it is wished to vary these delegations, for example, increase the amount of the delegation or delegate to officers in addition to the Chief of Staff, then the circumstances are to be documented for my consideration to vary.
These arrangements are designed to facilitate better management and accountability in the administration of Ministerial Offices.
