The final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) on Sydney's second airport is expected to be released by the Commonwealth at the end of May.
The Inter-Departmental Committee, which was established when the draft EIS was released (Premier's Memorandum 1997-21), is to be re-convened, chaired by the Department of Urban Affairs and Planning.
Each agency represented on the IDC will prepare an initial briefing for their Minister and will forward a copy of this briefing to the Department of Urban Affairs and Planning, and to The Hon Kim Yeadon, MP, Minister for Western Sydney. The IDC will finalise a submission to Cabinet, to be presented jointly by the Deputy Premier and Minister Yeadon.
Minister Yeadon will also be the contact with the Commonwealth Government (and other organisations such as Local Councils) on matters relating to the Badgerys Creek proposal.
Any New South Wales Government agency approached for comment on the EIS, including requests for advice from Commonwealth agencies, should refer the inquiry to the Office of Minister Yeadon.
