Please find attached the New South Wales Government's 2002 Report to the National Competition Council on the application of National Competition Policy (NCP) in New South Wales.

The 2002 Report demonstrates New South Wales' progress in implementing NCP obligations during the period 1 January 2001 to 30 March 2002. The Report comprises three parts: 1/ progress in priority areas identified by the NCC; 2/ updated legislation review database; and 3/ progress in implementing water reforms.

Based on the Council's mid-year assessment and recommendations regarding New South Wales' progress, the Commonwealth Treasurer announced on 10 December 2002 that New South Wales will receive its full allocation of competition payments for 2002-03. There will be a supplementary assessment of New South Wales' water reforms in mid-January 2003.
