About

Since my appointment as Minister for the Central Coast I have been made aware by local community members that they do not believe the specific needs of the Central Coast region are being adequately considered by Government.

At a State Plan meeting in August 2009 the community was united in its message to Government that it wanted the Central Coast to be recognised as a region in its own right.

I am therefore requesting that all NSW Government Ministers and Agencies carefully consider the Central Coast region in deliberations, particularly in decision making and funding that would be beneficial to the region.

I have also written to the Prime Minister informing him of the disadvantage to the Central Coast of not being recognised by Commonwealth Government agencies as a distinct region.

In further recognition of the importance of the Central Coast region I have appointed David Harris, Member for Wyong, as Parliamentary Secretary for the Central Coast and he is available to discuss any matters that you may wish to raise.

The Regional Coordination unit within the Department of Premier and Cabinet is also well equipped to assist with any enquiries that you may have.

Thank you for your assistance on this matter.

Nathan Rees
Premier
