About
The standard sets out principles for effective records and information management.
The purpose of this standard is to establish the requirements for effective records and information management. It covers records and information in all formats, including both digital and physical records. It has been designed to support digital recordkeeping as the NSW Government transitions to digital business processes.
The standard is structured in three principles with minimum compliance requirements listed for each principle. Each minimum compliance requirement is accompanied by examples of how a public office can demonstrate compliance with the requirement.
The standard was reviewed in 2018 in light of Recommendation 8.4 of the Final Report of the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse and the NSW Government Response to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse. There are no changes or revisions to the minimum compliance requirements listed in the Standard on records management. There are minor amendments (additional text) to the "Examples of how a public office can demonstrate compliance with the requirement" component of the standard at minimum compliance requirements 3.2, 3.4, and 3.5.
