The purpose of this Circular is to advise you of the new classification of Senior Officer.
The Senior Officer classification provides additional capacity for NSW public service organisations to recognise the work value of non-Senior Executive Positions. There are three grades of Senior Officer as follows:
- Senior Officer, Grade 1 - $73,920; $79,650 per annum
- Senior Officer, Grade 2 - $81,000; $86,710 per annum
- Senior Officer, Grade 3 - $89,611; $98,366 per annum.
Inclusion in the Senior Officer structure is by evaluation of positions by the Premier's Department, Public Sector Management Office using the Cullen Egan Dell methodology. Appointment as a Senior Officer is in accordance with the provisions of the Public Sector Management Act 1988, including competitive merit selection for advertised vacancies.
The arrangements are covered by the attached Determination and supporting Guidelines which are effective from 11 December 1996.
Assistance with the appropriate consideration and use of the Senior Officer classification is available from the Premier's Department, Public Sector Management Office, on telephone number (02) 9228 3530.
