Welcome to the State of the NSW Public Sector Report 2013, my independent assessment of the sector’s performance in 2012-13, and the companion Workforce Profile Report 2013.
Last year’s inaugural State of the NSW Public Sector Report established a baseline against which to assess, over time, the performance of the sector in a number of key areas. This year’s report builds on that work, concentrating on the very significant reform agenda initiated during the reporting period. These are fundamental reforms to the employment arrangements that underpin the sector’s workforce and the tools used for managing the workforce.
The theme of the report is reflected in the title – Getting into Shape – which emphasises the significant work underway to establish new ways of working by streamlining structures and building
skills. Future reports will assess the impact of these changes.
This circular is my invitation to you to read both the State of the NSW Public Sector Report 2013 and the Workforce Profile Report 2013. The reports help those in the sector and the broader community to understand where the sector is at, where it is going and how it is progressing on that journey.
I welcome your thoughts and feedback about the report, which can be done via this anonymous online survey or emailed to us at [email protected]
