C2007-17 Reserve Forces Parades

Detailed Outline

The 2007 Reserve Forces Day Council (RFDC) Parades will take place in 4 cities in NSW on the weekend of 30 June, and 1 July, and in Canberra and Tamworth on 23 June 2007. The locations and dates for the parades are as follows: Sydney - Sunday 1 July 2007 Canberra - Saturday 23 June 2007 Tamworth - Saturday 23 June 2007 Newcastle - Saturday 30 June 2007 Wagga - Sunday 1 July 2007 Lismore - Sunday 1 July 2007 Parkes - Sunday 1 July 2007 The main emphasis of the parades in 2007 is to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the last great cavalry charge in history, being the charge at Beersheba by the Australian Light Horse in October 1917. In addition, the RFDC will be celebrating the centenary of the Australian Intelligence Corps. The RFDC seeks the attendance of current and former Reservists at the Parades. Eligible public sector staff who are rostered to work on the day that the Parade is held in their locality can seek to apply for a change in the roster for the day. Alternatively, they may apply for accrued leave, for example, flex leave, recreation leave or extended leave. All applications for a change in roster or accrued leave are subject to operational requirements and departmental convenience. However, agencies are encouraged to release eligible staff where possible. Further information on the Parade, including starting times and meeting places, can be found at the RFDC website: www.rfd.org.au, or by contacting the RDFC on (02) 9908 1863.
