The 2008 parades will mark 10 years since the inaugural Reserve Forces Day parades and will acknowledge the 60th Anniversary of the reforming of the Commonwealth Military Forces/Army Reserve and the Royal Australia Air Force Reserve in 1948, and part time service in the Royal Australian Navy Reserve. The RFDC seeks the attendance of current and former Reservists at the Parades.
Eligible public sector staff who are rostered to work on the day that the parade is held in their locality can seek to apply for a change in the roster for the day. Alternatively, they may apply for accrued leave, for example, flex leave, recreation leave or extended leave. All applications for a change in roster or accrued leave are subject to operational requirements and departmental convenience. However, agencies are encouraged to release eligible staff where possible.
Further information on the Parade, including starting times and meeting places, can be found at the RFDC website: www.rfd.org.au.
