About
NSW Government agencies are expected to classify, label and handle their information according to the NSW Government Information Classification, Labelling and Handling Guidelines.
The NSW Government Information Classification, Labelling and Handling Guidelines (the Guidelines) provide guidance to NSW agencies on:
how to correctly assess the sensitivity or security classification of information they hold;
how to label this information; and
how to manage this information according to the label.
They align with the Australian Government's Protective Security Policy Framework with respect to information security for sensitive and classified information.
The NSW Cyber Security Policy mandates that NSW Government agencies must adhere to the requirements of the Guidelines, and as part of this mandatory reporting, clusters and agencies must clearly outline the level of maturity in accordance with the Cyber Security Policy. In doing so, it is expected agencies will report the extent their processes and systems are being implemented and/or upgraded to comply with the guidelines.
