Description
This Memorandum superceded by M2009-15Detailed Outline
Following the recently announced staff freeze on filling or advertising non-frontline public sector jobs (Memorandum 2008-21), agencies must now use jobs.nsw as their main method of advertising approved positions.
All press advertising is suspended including composite and display advertisements. A single advertisement promoting the NSW Government as a preferred employer will appear in Saturday's edition of the Sydney Morning Herald and the Saturday Daily Telegraph directing potential applicants to the jobs.nsw website.
A similar advertisement for teaching positions will direct potential applicants to the Department of Education and Training jobs website. Likewise, an advertisement for health positions will direct potential applicants to the NSW Department of Health jobs website.
Exemptions apply in the following circumstances:
- Agencies advertising regional positions in regional newspapers.
- Agencies advertising in community newspapers (eg Koori Mail).
- Chief Executive Officer advertisements.
Agencies wishing to use online advertising media must advertise on Seek, MyCareer and CareerOne and should contact Government Advertising in the Department of Commerce for further advice.
These restrictions will initially be in place for three months and will be monitored to assess the effect on the level of interest in positions.
This applies to all public sector agencies. This includes all agencies and employees in the Government Service (Public Service Departments, Non-Public Service Divisions and Special Employment Divisions), the Teaching Service, NSW Police and the NSW Health Service. State Owned Corporations are encouraged to adopt provisions consistent with this memorandum.
The Treasurer will write separately to State Owned Corporations about the adoption of the provisions in this memorandum.
