The 2008-2009 Federal Budget announced changes to fringe benefits tax (FBT) exemptions on certain work-related items. Once the Federal Government legislation is passed, these changes will apply to items purchased after 7.30pm (AEST) on 13 May 2008 (refer to the Australian Taxation Office website).

Circular 2007-35 advised that the Department of Premier and Cabinet was seeking a tax ruling on whether voluntary redundancy payments made between 1 July 2007 and 30 June 2012 meet transitional criteria which would enable them to be rolled over to a superannuation fund.
