On Saturday, 28th April, I made a further visit to the Nyngan area during which I was approached by the President of Bogan Shire and community leaders of Nyngan with a request that I nominate a person who can take charge of the co-ordination of State and Local Government agencies to re-establishing settlement in Nyngan.

On 17 October 1989, I issued Memorandum No. 89-60 to all Ministers, which was also forwarded to all Chief Executive Officers and senior officers, as well as included in the SES manual, along with the grievance mediation policy and guidelines.

Among the changes to public sector culture brought about by the creation of the SES, the advertising of the remuneration attracted by individual positions as a total cost to the employer is one which provides immediate opportunities for extension to positions below SES level.

The Department of Administrative Services is carrying out a series of major purchasing and supply reforms. As part of this process, a series of measures will be put into effect over the next 12 months which should substantially improve the service levels provided by the Government Supply warehouse operation at Alexandria while maintaining competitive prices.
